When Jose discovered this area, it had been abandoned for over 20 years – neglected, overgrown with weeds, and full of invasive plant species. However, amidst this apparent chaos, he also found valuable coffee trees, including 70-year-old Typica bushes. This discovery showed the enormous potential and fertility of the land, which prompted Jose to bring Geisha variety seeds from Panama and plant them on the Las Marias farm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJose is known for using unique processing methods aimed at highlighting the natural character of the coffee, while maintaining a sustainable approach at every stage of production. \u003cstrong\u003eThis coffee underwent a precisely conducted double washed process,\u003c\/strong\u003e starting with harvesting the fruit at the ideal ripeness – when the Brix level (sugar content) exceeds 22.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter harvesting, the fruits go to the La Clarita drying station, where they are depulped (separated from the pulp) and then placed in closed tanks for 24-hour anaerobic fermentation. Centuries of eruptions have enriched the surrounding soils with valuable minerals, and combined with Indonesia's tropical climate, have created exceptionally favorable conditions for coffee cultivation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAbdul founded the Rukun Saudara cooperative in 2017.\u003c\/strong\u003e Previously, coffee grown in this region was sold exclusively as wet parchment.
