Abaca Coffee Filter Paper – here's what the manufacturer, CAFEC, says
CAFEC Abaca filter paper has been very popular worldwide for years as CAFEC's flagship product. However, CAFEC, as a pioneer in coffee filter paper production, continuously develops its technologies and products. We constantly make every effort to develop a much better filter paper with much greater added value for the customer, and as a company whose goal is to contribute to sustainable development goals, we want to produce a very environmentally friendly product. This is why ABACA filters were created.
Abaca (Musa textilis) is a species of banana native to the Philippines, cultivated as a commercial crop in the Philippines, Ecuador, and Costa Rica. The plant, also known as Manila hemp, is of great economic importance as it is harvested for the fiber obtained from its leaf stalks. The plant grows to 4-7m. The fiber was originally used for making twine and ropes; currently, most of it is pulped and used in various specialized paper products, such as tea bags, coffee filter paper, and banknotes. It is classified as a hard fiber. Abaca can be harvested three years after planting, and then every 3-8 months; it is harvested by leaving the root, and a new plant grows from the root. Abaca is one of the strongest fibers, has high resistance to sunlight and moisture, and is also resistant to microorganisms and seawater.
