It is grown at altitudes ranging from 1400 to 2200 meters above sea level, which ensures slow fruit maturation and a richer development of sugars and acids in the bean.
After the genocide in 1994, Rwanda focused on rebuilding its economy, partly through the development of the high-quality coffee sector. Thousands of small plantations, cooperatives, and washing stations were established, where coffee is meticulously selected and processed primarily using the washed (wet) method. As a result, Rwandan coffees are characterized by exceptional clarity and fruity character.
Experimental processing methods are also increasingly appearing: natural, honey, or anaerobic, which add new, exciting flavor notes to the beans.
