☕🎄 Day 2 — Frostbite & Fury, or me, Stefan and the coffee that saved the day
This morning, I decided to build a snowman. I don't know what came over me – maybe an ambitious vision of a December idyll, or perhaps a desire to post something wintry on Instagram.
Unfortunately, the snow had other plans. The consistency was like fine gravel mixed with malice. It wouldn't stick together, nor would it mold. The result was… a ball. Or rather: a potato that had seen better days.
I named him Stefan. Stefan Snowman.
I left him out in the cold, and he looked as if he himself was contemplating the meaning of life.
And at that very moment — when I was freezing, Stefan was having an existential crisis, and the snow was triumphing with passive aggression — salvation appeared: the coffee of the day from our advent calendar.
🌞 Colombia Yellow Papayo — coffee that reminds you it's summer somewhere in the world
Today we're drinking Yellow Papayo — a rare, exotic variety from the El Diviso farm in the Huila region (Colombia), managed by, among others, Nestor Lasso.
It is grown at 1750 m above sea level, where the cooler mountain air gives the fruits intensity and juiciness.
This coffee is processed using the natural method — the fruits are dried whole, unwashed, thus retaining their full fruity sweetness.
And that's exactly what you taste in the cup:
- tropical fruits,
- sweet cherry,
- melon,
- and that characteristic, juicy, summery vibe that makes you momentarily forget about Stefan and his problems.

🎭 Stefan vs. Papayo
I returned to Stefan with my mug.
We stared at each other for a moment. Me — with tenderness, because the coffee was finally kicking in. Stefan — with his unsettling, potato-like sadness.
But you know what?
After three sips of Yellow Papayo, even that deformed ball-snowman started to look a bit… cute.
Maybe it's the magic of the natural process, maybe the sweet cherry, or maybe the fact that tropical notes work better than light therapy.
One thing is certain: Day 2 tastes like a vacation in a warm country and looks like a crazy attempt to build a snowman out of dry baking powder.
