Day 8 — The Gift of Nothing
Olivo Coffee Culture - Finca Milan Purple Madness
The human said, "it's the thought that counts."
So I gave him a look full of indifference and majestic distance.
The purest form of love — the distillate of feline minimalism.
And then I sat next to his cup and decided that this was the perfect gift: me + coffee, and everything else was just background.
What are we drinking today? Purple Madness from Finca Milan - Olivo Coffee Culture
Day 8 smells of grapes — literally.
This is Colombian Purple Madness, roasted by the Romanian roastery Olivo Coffee Culture, known for profiles that taste as if someone threw fruit into a kaleidoscope and said: do your thing.
Three notes that say it all:
- grapes
- raspberries
- blackberries
Sounds like compote, tastes like dessert, brews like coffee — like nothing, perfect.
- Plantation: Finca Milan, managed by Julio Andres Quiceno
- Region: Risaralda, 1,600 m above sea level.
- Variety: Caturra.
- Processing: Co-fermented Culturing — controlled fermentation with the addition of fruits and starter cultures.
Where does this crazy purple story come from?
The beans come from Finca Milan — a family farm in Colombia, specializing in experimental processing.
This is one of the places where coffee cherries undergo a co-fermentation process and get that characteristic, juicy, fruity "kick," which farmers achieve through hard work. Often, the time needed to develop a repeatable process is measured not in weeks, but in years. This is not "just" hard work. It's a lot of knowledge, experience, and precision.
Purple Madness is a lot fermented to enhance naturally sweet fruits and extract maximum juiciness from the variety. In addition to fruits, bacterial and yeast cultures were also inoculated, thanks to which we can enjoy the final taste.
Olivo Coffee Culture
Olivo is a Romanian roastery that likes fruit more than the average compote fan on Christmas Eve. Purple Madness is one of their most fruity shots. This doesn't mean it's the only fruity item on their menu. Besides it, you can also find coffees with watermelon, banana, coconut, passion fruit, or peach. If you're wondering how they taste, we hasten to answer that they're amazing. We know because we've drunk them all 😍
Feline Epilogue - the gift of superiority
In the end, I sat next to the human, who celebrated every sip of Purple Madness as if he had just discovered the meaning of life in a grape note. I watched him for a long time, slowly, with dignity. And then I gently pushed the cup three centimeters aside with my paw — so he would know that everything he has exists thanks to my grace. The human sighed. I blinked slowly. And in that one moment, we both understood: the greatest gift in this house... is still me.
