Coffee Origin, Processing, and Flavor Notes:
Las Marias Estate is the newest addition to the Giraldo family's farms. In his search, Jose looked for a high-altitude farm surrounded by native forest and providing optimal light conditions to improve the quality of exotic coffee varieties. He found what he was looking for in Pijao, Quindio, a small town located in the heart of the Andes, known for its tranquility and natural beauty. During his search, he stumbled upon Las Marias, a farm that had been abandoned for over 20 years, overgrown with grass and invasive plants. Yet, amidst this wild landscape, rare coffee cherries still thrived.
The farm had approximately 7,000 Typica coffee plants, about 70 years old, but neglected. Jose and his team worked to restore these trees and began selecting the best ones for cultivation at Las Marias. The Geisha variety became their favorite target. They sourced seeds from Panama and meticulously nurtured these delicate trees. For this particular lot, Rio Dulce Double Washed, only the best genetic Geisha varieties from Las Marias were harvested. Cherries were picked at peak ripeness, with a Brix level greater than 22.
An exceptional specialty coffee from the A.M.O.C roastery in Rotterdam, Netherlands. A real treat for connoisseurs! Gesha with double washed processing and flavor notes of orange drink, peach, and flowers. Delicious!
A personal recommendation from us :).
