Ethiopia Gatta Farm - Sidama Bensa Natural from Slovak roaster Quickborn

This coffee delights with its clarity, distinct fruity notes, and attention to every detail at every stage of production.

The coffee comes from Gatta Farm, located in the heart of the Shantawene village in the Sidama Bensa region (Ethiopia). The crops are grown at an altitude of 2120–2210 m a.s.l., surrounded by lush forests, ancient trees, rivers, and waterfalls, which contributes to the development of a complex flavor profile.

The processing method used is natural (dry) – the fruits are first sorted in water (floating) to remove unripe cherries, and then dried on raised African beds and regularly turned, which ensures cleanliness and controlled fermentation.

The farm cultivates JARC 74112 and local Heirloom varieties, known for their high quality and unique character. In addition to its own harvest, Gatta also sources fruit from registered small-scale farmers from surrounding communities, emphasizing transparency and local cooperation.

Gatta Farm is not just a plantation – it is also a drying station, a training center, and seasonal accommodation for workers. Women from the local community play a significant role in the quality process, involved in quality control and coffee processing.

Behind the project is Daye Bensa – a renowned producer, repeatedly awarded in the Cup of Excellence (7th place in 2020, 8th place in 2021, 2nd place in 2022), which is a strong confirmation of the highest quality of this coffee.
