ICKPA (Iskra) Ethiopia Deri Fahmi

Coffee characteristics:
Floral, berry jam, candied apricot, vanilla, heavy and juicy body.

Origin:

Fahmi is a private washing station located in the Hambella woreda (administrative district) in the West Guji zone of Ethiopia. Fahmi WS is one of twenty owned and operated by Testi Coffee, a family business founded by Mr. Faysel A. Yonis. Deri is the name of the village, and Fahmi is the name of Faysel's first son.
 
Located at an altitude of 2000 m above sea level, Fahmi WS produces exceptional lots of washed and naturally processed products. The washing station was established in 2017 and currently employs eight permanent staff and 250 seasonal workers. During harvest, freshly picked coffee cherries are delivered daily by approximately 500 independent farmers from the nearby Kebele to the collection point in Addis.
 
Most of the families who contribute to this lot farm organically on small plots of land, averaging only 2 hectares. Coffee is their main cash crop and grows alongside food crops such as corn, grains, and bananas, under the shade of indigenous Birbira, Wanza, and Acacia trees. The average altitude of farms in this region is very high – around 1900–2050 m above sea level – and this, combined with the region's cool temperatures, is ideal for the slow maturation of coffee cherries, leading to denser beans and a sweeter, more complex cup profile.

Processing and tasting notes:

Here we have Ethiopian Heirloom variety beans with natural processing, offering tasting notes of berry jam, vanilla, apricot, and a wonderful floral, jasmine aroma.

We drank this coffee at the Parzymy Przelewamy festival in Katowice and we are delighted!
