An almost African blend of washed Kenya and co-fermented Colombia from Slovak roaster Quickborn

Flavor notes: Passionfruit, Grapefruit, Berries

A word from the roastery:

We wanted to create a blend that combines the energy and acidity characteristic of African coffees with a modern twist. The Kenyan component brings structure and a bright, juicy acidity, while the Colombian co-ferment adds intense notes of passionfruit, orange zest, and a sweet, tropical character that makes the coffee distinctive and memorable.

The base of the blend is Kenya, processed using the traditional washed method with an emphasis on clarity and pronounced acidity. Manual harvesting of ripe cherries, fermentation in water, and drying on raised African beds give the cup structure, freshness, and the juiciness characteristic of Kenya.

The Colombian Bourbon Rosado undergoes an experimental co-fermentation with orange and passionfruit, which builds an intense, modern flavor profile. After harvesting, the fruits are disinfected with hot water, then pulped and transferred to sealed tanks, where anaerobic fermentation takes place. A 48-hour pre-fermented orange and passionfruit puree and selected strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, isolated directly from coffee, are added to the process. Fermentation lasts 3-4 days and is precisely controlled (e.g., by pH monitoring) to achieve an ideal balance between fruit intensity and profile cleanliness.

The coffee is then sun-dried for about 8 days until it reaches optimal moisture content, ensuring stability and high storage quality.
