Flavor notes: lulo, kiwi, candy
Colombia E. Norena is a premium specialty coffee, roasted by the Slovak roastery Kavoholik. The Caturra/ Castillo varietal beans, processed using the honey and cofermentation method, are distinguished by their juiciness, acidity, and fruity character. The dominant flavors are notes of lulo, kiwi, and candy, which delight with their harmony and complexity.
What is lulo?
Literally - Naranjilla (from Spanish: Little Orange). Lulo is a climbing plant, but older stems lignify, so the plant can be trained as a shrub and is cultivated as such. When ripe, the fruit is light orange, round, with a thick skin and a diameter ranging from 2.5 cm to even about 6 cm. The pulp is green or greenish-yellow, very juicy, and can be very sour. There is also a sweet variety of Lulo called Quito, which is grown in Ecuador near the city of Quito, but it contains significantly less juice than other varieties.
Brewing:
This coffee is ideal for alternative methods such as Chemex, V60, or AeroPress, guaranteeing an unforgettable taste experience.
We love coffees with lulo. They are incredibly juicy and acidic. Apparently, you either love or hate lulo ;). We are definitely in the first group :).
