As the roastery writes:
This coffee is the result of our new collaboration with LaREB (La Real Expedición Botánica) and a beautiful example of how origin, genetics, and moderation can combine in a truly elegant cup.
Finca El Encanto is located in Filandia, Quindío — a region less commonly associated with Gesha cultivation, which makes this lot particularly exciting. The plantation is managed by Daisy and Fredy Acevedo, second-generation Colombian farmers whose specialty coffee journey began abroad in Panama.
It was there, in the early days of the modern specialty movement, that they witnessed the rediscovery of the Geisha variety and its potential to redefine coffee value. Inspired by this experience, they returned to Colombia with seeds from original Panamanian Geisha genetics and began planting trial plots, achieving excellent results.
In 2017, Daisy and Fredy took over El Encanto, where today they cultivate Gesha in the shade, at high altitudes, combining biodiversity, careful farming, and thoughtful processing. This coffee is a clear expression of this vision — a classic Colombian Geisha profile: clean, floral, vibrant, available at a price that makes it beautifully accessible.
Processing:
This lot is a fully washed Gesha, processed with utmost precision to highlight its clarity, floral aromas, and citrusy freshness.
The cherries are harvested at full ripeness, then undergo a 24-hour closed fermentation in their skins. The coffee is then pulped and ferments in an open process with dry matter for 48 hours, allowing for a gentle development of flavors without losing purity.
Drying takes place under a marquesina for approximately 20 days, ensuring a slow and even reduction of moisture. This approach helps preserve the aromatic complexity and enhances the refined structure, typical of high-quality Gesha.
The result is a coffee with exceptionally high ratings for sweetness, balance, complexity, and clarity, remaining full of elegance and harmony from the first to the last sip.
