Day 1 – Dropshot - Bombon ☕
If coffee in your advent calendar is meant to be a little pleasure — Bombon from Romanian Dropshot is the perfect candidate. It's the roastery's signature blend, created from beans from Colombia and Costa Rica, captivating with its sweet, dessert-like profile.
The first time we drank a blend that tasted great both from an espresso machine and as a filter coffee! This coffee changed our perception of blends.
What's inside Bombon?
Bombon's sweet, dessert-like character doesn't come from nowhere. The blend consists of 50% Colombian beans from the famous Edwin Noreña — a producer known for innovative, experimental processing. This part of the blend has been fermented with strawberries and raspberries, which gives the coffee an intensely fruity, slightly jammy accent.
The other half is beans from Costa Rica from Alejo Castro Kahle, one of the most respected producers in the region. It is his coffee that brings chocolate-vanilla sweetness and elegant clarity to the cup.
Combined, they create a profile so complete that Teodor just mutters under his breath: "Well... this time people had a good idea."
Flavor notes – in the cup, you'll find aromas of candy, chocolate, juicy strawberries, and vanilla. It's a coffee so sweet it brings to mind a milkshake or a homemade dessert.
Brewing versatility – the beans are light roast, so they work well both as espresso and pour-over coffee. For us, this is a huge plus — one coffee, many possibilities.
Origin and roastery philosophy – Dropshot is a Romanian specialty roastery, founded in 2019. The beans come from small plantations, hand-roasted with attention to quality. Ethics are important — transparent trade and direct cooperation with farmers.
How best to brew it to experience the magic of Bombon?
If you have an espresso machine — make an espresso for pronounced chocolate-vanilla notes.
If you prefer filter coffee — grind the beans a bit coarser, pour water (approx. 92–94 °C) slowly and allow the flavor to develop more gently.
For an "afternoon dessert" version — try it with a splash of milk or a cappuccino: Bombon's fruity-chocolate sweetness will perfectly complement the milky smoothness. This is a recommendation from Honorata :)
Teodor the cat speaks
"Well... humans. You have your coffee again that smells like dessert. I prefer the smell of a freshly opened can of cat food, but if I have to sit by and listen to you smacking your lips with satisfaction — then let it be Bombon."
A moment later, he added, stretching with the dignity of a cat who knows better:
If Bombon makes you feed me faster, then I even recommend it.
Teodor doesn't drink coffee — but he recommends this one. And his recommendations are rarer than the days he graciously doesn't knock anything off the table.
Bombon is a coffee that wraps you in sweetness, lifts your spirits, and perfectly fits the idea of an advent calendar: daily small pleasures. And if approval comes even from Teodor the cat — you know it must be something special.
