Colombia Las Marias 2026 Gesha variety, Washed process, from Dutch roastery Sango

This lot of Geisha variety coffee was produced at Finca Las Marias farm. The farm is located in Pijao, in the Quindío region – a small town in the heart of the Andes. When Jose discovered this area, it had been abandoned for over 20 years – neglected, overgrown with weeds, and full of invasive plant species. However, amidst this apparent chaos, he also found valuable coffee trees, including 70-year-old Typica bushes. This discovery showed the enormous potential and fertility of the land, which prompted Jose to bring Geisha variety seeds from Panama and plant them on the Las Marias farm.

Jose is known for using unique processing methods aimed at highlighting the natural character of the coffee, while maintaining a sustainable approach at every stage of production. This coffee underwent a precisely conducted double washed process, starting with harvesting the fruit at the ideal ripeness – when the Brix level (sugar content) exceeds 22.

After harvesting, the fruits go to the La Clarita drying station, where they are depulped (separated from the pulp) and then placed in closed tanks for 24-hour anaerobic fermentation. Then the beans are washed and again placed in a dry, closed tank for another 24 hours of anaerobic fermentation. After the second wash, the coffee is dried on raised drying beds.

This unique combination of a proprietary processing method with the renowned Geisha variety creates a cup with distinct sweetness and an elegant flavor profile – with notes of candied lemon and floral accents of orange blossom and jasmine.
