Coffeemates' Recommendation: delicious, sweet, well-rounded coffee. Exquisite!
From the roastery:
Colombia Wilson Janamejoy Geisha is a coffee that means much more to us than a rare Geisha variety or beans from a renowned region. We personally selected it during the La Mejor Taza: Nariño 2025 event – an auction showcasing the region's most outstanding coffees. Before it went under the hammer, it was ranked 14th by an international panel of tasters, of which we were a part. So, we are talking about one of the highest-rated coffees from Nariño in the 2025–2026 season, which is perfectly reflected in the cup.
The author of this lot is Wilson Orlando Janamejoy Carlosama, owner of El Mirador farm located in Tablón de Gómez in the Nariño region, at an altitude of 1650 m above sea level. Wilson represents a new generation of Colombian producers who combine tradition with an incredibly precise approach to quality. He built his experience under the guidance of his father, and the foundation of his work became consistency, attention to detail, and an unceasing desire to improve every stage of production.
The coffee underwent classic washed processing, carried out with exceptional care. Ripe fruits are selectively hand-picked, and then depulped on the same day. The next stage is a 36-hour aerobic fermentation, after which the beans are thoroughly washed and dried on raised beds in shaded conditions characteristic of Nariño's cool climate. The drying process takes about 20 days until the coffee reaches a moisture level of 10–11%, after which it undergoes an additional stabilization period lasting another 20 days. This processing aims not for spectacular fermentation intensity, but for maximum clarity, elegance, and a faithful rendition of the terroir's character.
It was precisely this profile that convinced us to purchase this lot. The cup delights with sophisticated floral notes, citrus freshness, and natural sweetness, creating an exceptionally elegant and precise tasting experience. This is a coffee that perfectly showcases the potential of the Nariño region – famous for its high-altitude cultivation and exceptionally complex sensory profiles – and Wilson's talent for extracting the best from it.
The most beautiful thing, however, is that the coffee surprised us again after arriving in Europe. It sometimes happens that exceptional lots meet the expectations placed upon them. Much less often do they exceed them. For us, Wilson Janamejoy Geisha is precisely such a coffee – selected with full conviction at the source, and after a re-tasting, even more expressive, harmonious, and delightful than we remembered.
